Nicholas John Maass Welcome!!

Welcome Baby Nicholas John Maass to the family. He was born on April 22, 2008.

Going to tell you the story........i was awoken at 6 am by back/hip pain.....started to time the contractions and they were coming every 8-10 minutes....finally they got pretty bad laying in bed so decided to go and pace downstairs.....I called in my mother in law for Ryan at about 7 ish and she headed over....i was pacing around the house but still managed to get Ryan up and ready for school.....called the hospital and they finally said around 10 to come on in......Tom and I headed over there, and at this point the contractions were coming every 4-6 minutes and started to hurt.....they set me up in a delivery room and i layed down and got assessed....4 cms dialated....i guess i got too comfy and the contractions just about stopped...........12:30 came around and my doctor, Dr. Rogerson, came in, assessed me and at that point was about 5 cms dialated...i had seen her a few times before, and she decided to break my water........so 12:35 the water was broken.........within 5 minutes of this happening i was having contractions every 2-3 minutes and they were lasting about a minute....man it hurt...finally they got me some laughing gas and that made me a little happier..........1:30 came around and I was 8 cms and almost ready to go......Nicholas's head was 90 degrees turned the wrong way so they were trying to coach me threw getting his head turned....by this point i really didn't listen to them....i just wanted him out!!!!! I got some urges to push and so the doctor was called in and assessed me....she said i was 8-9 cms and almost there.........well i guess by this point Nicholas and I didn't care because he was out in 3 pushes....and one of those the doctor was trying to tell me not to push...yah right :)

But he was born at 2:15 pm, weighing in at 9 lbs 14 oz. He has latched on very nicely and loves sucking........he is a sucker!!! Him and Ryan already have a relationship going. Ryan wants to do alot with and for him so that is good!! Seems to be adjusting nicely. Thanks for all the messages, phone calls and visits!!! Will keep you posted!
